gonna play devil's advocate here and say I wouldn't at all. the stats you're looking at are derived primarily from domestic admits; Bowdoin's incredibly competitive for internationals this year and if you've got good grades there's no reason to submit a 1400 when it's HIGHLY likely the average score for internationals is a 1480+. 2.1530 is right on the border for maybe three or four schools - MIT, Caltech, Chicago, Harvey Mudd. From memory, Chicago/Mudd are 1530, MIT ~1540, Caltech 1550. Anywhere else it’s more than enough as it’s above the average admitted student. And even for these four, I’d only retake if you truly think you will improve and have the time available.

At a top college, they are not looking to see whether you can get a perfect score; they just want to know that you can handle the difficulty and rigor of their coursework, and getting a 1500+ will show just that.
