I am using 3.85mm pricking irons for wallets and watch straps with thread no more than 0.55mm in thickness (I personally prefer 0.5mm). The stitching is elegant enough in my opinion and the spacing is absolutely fine for both small and mid size goods. I haven't tried anything much bigger than a wallet so I do not know if it will be ok for bags.They make a large hole which is easy to get your needles through but if your goal is fine leatherwork you will probably move on to pricking iron or stitching irons.
